Well, the weekend was a blast...when we eventually got there! Pete came home later than he was supposed to and in a bit of a mood on Friday. It took ages to pack his stuff, and then we had to turn around and go back because he realised he'd forgotten to pack any shoes! Then the satellite navigation system lost the signal in the city because of all the skyscrapers, leaving me frantically trying to map read while Pete battled his way through the Friday afternoon traffic. He was getting stressed and snappy, so by the time we arrived I was threatening to turn around and go home.
I'm glad I didn't though because it was fun once we got there. We stayed at Star City hotel - http://www.starcity.com.au/dir013/internetpublishing.nsf/content/intro and we had a lovely room with a harbour view. Dinner the first night was at a restaurant in the hotel, which is where the photo was taken. We ended up staying there until well past midnight, and finally departed when the restaurant staff appeared in their jammies and starting setting their alarm clocks... Well, not quite, but we were the last to leave, and it was obviously past closing time. Then we went over to the casino, although none of us are gamblers so we just went and had a few drinks at the casino bar and watched. We finally crawled into bed around 2am.
The next morning, I was the only one without a hangover! It was a gorgeous day so after breakfast, we took a ride on a ferry over to Manly and had lunch at the Steyne Hotel. In the evening, we went out to dinner again, to a steak and seafood restaurant on the harbourside. I have to say, that the company Pete works for are the nicest bunch of people! And the whole shebang was paid for by Pete's boss, which I thought was incredibly generous of him (also, you have to like a guy who tells you you look like Elizabeth Taylor, even if it's blatantly not true!) Not a bad Christmas 'party', eh? We were exhausted when we got home because we seemed to be at full tilt all weekend, but we had a great time.
