Two posts in two days - what on earth's got into me? LOL While browsing round the shops yesterday, I came across this cute little box. It followed me home....

This is why -

What a great project box! It holds enough floss for most projects, those compartments are just the right size for my floss bobbins, and it has a handy drawer for my bits and pieces. It's also better at keeping the kitty cats out than the plastic floss boxes are - bonus!!

More Beloved....

Have you heard the alarming news about DMC? Apparently they are in serious financial trouble, and may possibly be announcing bankruptcy on Tuesday!! The news sounds very bad indeed - what will we all do if DMC disappears? Even most of the hand dyeds use DMC as a base!

Great progress on Beloved. The 'boobies' are looking much better now. :P

Ahh, where did you hear that about DMC? Sounds like we might have to start stockpiling! I don't want to switch to Anchor or *shudder* Sullivans.

What?! DMC bankrupt? How can that be? Stitchers worldwide are using their floss.

It would be such a pain and expense to switch to Anchor. I have all the DMC colors organized on stitchbows. I only have about 30 colors of Anchor.

Ok, I read a news release from DMC Group and it seems from what I read, that they are taking a hit not on their creative side, which includes the floss we all know and love, but from the clothing side of their business. They have a portion that creates cotton and corduroy fabric and they are being hit in the market by cheaper products from the Far East. It sounds like they are going to pull back from that market and maybe concentrate on their Creative World items, stitching and needlework.

I don't think we have to panic yet, I think what will happen is they will go back to doing what they do best and stick with that market during this economic down turn.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

No wonder your box followed you home - look what a colourful and fulfilling life it will now lead!!!
Lucky box (and lucky you too).
My 2 cents worth on DMC - I reckon a lot of people, me included, use far more silk threads now. But I would still hate to see DMC go :(

Beloved is looking wonderful, it is on my wish list for 'one day'. I would hate it if DMC were to go out of business.

I read on the DMC USA site that they will be continuing to product the threads and that we shouldn't worry. The issues they are having are strictly related to the european market and DMC USA is a separate entity . . .
